For more than two decades, I’ve worked with women navigating perimenopause, menopause, metabolic health and healthy aging. Along the way, I began noticing something important.
The women who remained energetic, resilient and engaged weren't simply managing symptoms - they were moving, training, challenging themselves, and they had something meaningful to work toward.
That insight changed my own life too. I qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon at 50 and then discovered competitive track in my 50s.
Today my work brings together women’s health, movement, metabolic health and meaningful goals - helping women understand the science and inspiring them to take action for their health and longevity.
What happens when we stop exercising to fix our bodies and start training for something that matters to us? This talk explores how movement, purpose and meaningful goals can transform motivation, confidence and our relationship with our bodies.
Hormones matter, but they are only part of the story. Shawna explores the intersection of hormones, metabolic health, muscle, sleep, stress and movement — and gives women practical strategies to build stronger, healthier futures.
Muscle, cardiovascular fitness and metabolic health become increasingly important after 40. This practical, motivating talk helps women understand what to prioritize — and why strength is about far more than what happens in the gym.
At 50, Shawna ran the Boston Marathon. In her 50s, she became a competitive Master's track athlete. Through personal storytelling and the science of healthy aging, she explores what happens when women stop assuming their most ambitious years are behind them.
Women leave Shawna’s talks:
- Understanding their health and bodies differently
- Seeing movement as one of their most powerful investments in long-term health
- Knowing what to do with practical strategies they can use immediately
- Inspired to set meaningful goals and discover what they’re capable of
Informed. Inspired. Ready to move.

Dr. Shawna Darou is a naturopathic doctor, competitive Master’s athlete, host of Unstoppable At Any Age, and founder of Women Who Move.
With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Shawna has worked with thousands of women navigating perimenopause, menopause and metabolic health.
Her perspective expanded in her own 50s, when she ran the Boston Marathon and discovered competitive track. It reinforced something she had already seen in her patients: women need more than information about their health. They need something meaningful to move toward.
Today, Shawna brings together science, movement and personal experience to help women build stronger, healthier futures - and rethink what’s possible after 40.
